We are taught from a young age that “good women” take care of everyone else first. We give, we nurture, we hold it all together—until one day we look in the mirror and realize we’ve disappeared from our own lives.

I was talking to a friend recently who embodies love and kindness. She’s endlessly compassionate, always pouring herself into others—even for people who don’t treat her with the same respect or care. She feels guilty even thinking about stepping back. And that’s not unusual. It’s the story of so many women.

Here’s what I’ve learned after 14 years behind the lens: there comes a point in life where we either keep carrying the weight until it breaks us… or we decide we’re worth more.

I’ve seen women who waited—who gave until they were exhausted, unwell, or too weighed down by guilt to recognize themselves anymore.
