“I Don’t Recognize Myself Anymore”
How Boudoir Can Bring You Back to Your Body, Your Confidence, and You
There’s a moment…
and if you know, you know.
You catch your reflection in a mirror, a window, your phone camera…
and something feels off.
Not in a dramatic way.
Not in a “who is that?” way.
But in a quiet, unsettling…
“That doesn’t feel like me anymore.”
It doesn’t matter how you got here.
Maybe it was motherhood.
Maybe burnout slowly drained you.
Maybe a breakup cracked something open.
Or maybe you just spent years… being everything for everyone else.
Somewhere along the way, you stopped being with yourself.
Let’s be honest for a second…
It’s not just about how you look.
It’s how you feel in your body.
Disconnected. Numb. Maybe even a little critical.
Like you’re living in it… but not fully inside it.
And here’s the part no one says out loud:
You don’t rebuild that connection by waiting.
You rebuild it by coming back on purpose.
Gently. Intentionally. Without judgment.
A Simple Place to Start: Mirror Reclaim Ritual
This isn’t about forcing confidence.
This is about meeting yourself where you are… and choosing not to abandon her.
Here’s what I want you to try:
Stand in front of a mirror.
Naked… in lingerie, maybe the bath towel. Whatever feels right for you.
And don’t rush this part.
Look yourself in the eyes.
Yeah… I know. That part hits.
Stay there for a second longer than feels comfortable.
Then say this, out loud:
“I am still in here. I have survived.
I’m coming back to myself.
I am safe in my body. I am safe in my home.
I am safe with my loved ones.
I love myself. I love my body.
The universe loves me.”
And while you say it…
place your hands on your body.
Not to fix anything.
Not to judge anything.
Just to feel yourself again.
Take a deep breath in…
slow exhale out.
Repeat it three times.
What This Actually Does (Because yes, it matters)
This isn’t just a cute self-love exercise.
You’re retraining your nervous system.
You’re shifting the way you relate to your reflection.
You’re building safety… instead of criticism.
And over time?
That version of you you’ve been missing…
she starts to come forward again.
And this is exactly why boudoir hits so different
Because it’s not really about photos.
It’s about being guided back into your body.
Being seen in a way that feels safe.
Being reminded that you didn’t lose yourself…
you just got a little disconnected.
And you’re allowed to come back.
If you’re in this season right now…
Start small.
You don’t need to overhaul your life.
You don’t need to “fix” yourself.
You just need to stop leaving yourself behind.
Come back to your body.
Come back to your reflection.
Come back to you.
She’s still there.
